Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

Enter through montane rainforest on the quieter western side of the mountain.

Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp

Climb out of the forest onto the Shira Plateau’s western edge.

Shira 1 to Shira 2 Camp

An easier day crossing the Shira Plateau with wide views toward Kibo.

Shira 2 to Barranco Camp (via Lava Tower)

Climb high to Lava Tower for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Camp.
